The last few years have been hard on Brazilian pro surfer, Alejo Muniz. He burst onto the Championship Tour in 2012 and instantly had solid results, finishing his rookie year rated in the top10 of the rankings. But injuries have plagued his career ever since and 2016 was no different. He missed the first couple of CT events and had a hard time recovering. By the time he arrived in Portugal, to compete at the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, he needed a miracle of a result to save his year and it didn’t happen.
